During our travels, it’s difficult to have a consistent workout routine. With all the planes, trains, and automobiles, it can be challenging to find a consistent gym to workout in. Luckily, while we were visiting Tokyo, we found a box that changed all of that. After researching CrossFit boxes in the Tokyo area, we came across the top box in all of Tokyo, CrossFit Daikanyama.
During my week in Tokyo, I was able to visit CrossFit Daikanyama three times. The best part about visiting a foreign CrossFit box is not just the amazing workouts, but it’s the friends you make along the way. The box members were more than friendly, welcoming me with open arms into their morning workouts. We worked on our Olympic weightlifting with lifts such as the snatch and clean & jerk. We sweat through our metabolic conditioning workouts with AMRAP’s and partner WOD’s. Most of all, we worked together as a team to do the best we could in these workouts. The dynamic at CrossFit Daikanyama is all about community and fun. It was a joy to come back there day after day.
The main coach I worked with, Reiko, greeted me right away. With her infective smile and love of the sport, I was instantly attracted to her coaching style. Reiko led us through dynamic works involving both strength practice and metabolic conditioning.
For those of you traveling to Tokyo, your best bet to make friends, kick jet lag, and get a killer workout is to drop into the CrossFit Daikanyama box.
