“Tropical the island breeze, all of nature wild and free, this is where I long to be, La Isla Bonita.” San Pedro, Belize, also coined La Isla Bonita by the magnificent Madonna, is an island escape in the west Caribbean island of Ambergris Caye. With miles of white sand beaches, friendly locals, and adventurous activities, San Pedro Belize is the picture-perfect place for your next holiday.

FRIDAY

10 am: Arrive in San Pedro and head over to The Coconut Café for the best breakfast burritos on the island. Enjoy the freshest ingredients as everything is made to order at this island favorite. We recommend the build-your-own breakfast burrito made with freshly made tortillas. These tortillas were hands down the best tortillas we have ever feasted on. Ok great, now I’m hungry!

12 pm: Rent a golf cart to tour the tiny town. There are only a handful of cars on the island so locals use golf carts to navigate the streets of San Pedro.

1 pm: Head north to “Secret Beach,” a place where you can swim in beautiful shallow water littered with fish and mangrove trees. Lather on that sunscreen and wade in the crystal clear waters for hours. Tip: Bring water and snacks as there are no restaurants on secret beach. For even more fun, bring a six-pack of Belikin beer or a bottle of wine.

6:00 pm: Drive over to the lagoon side of the island to watch a perfect Belize sunset.

7:30 pm: Head over to Waruguma, an island staple for low cost and low key delicious dining. Order the lobster burrito, hands down, the fan favorite.

9:00 pm: Walk over and grab some drinks at Fido’s, an island favorite for live music on the ocean.

SATURDAY

5:30 am: Wake up! It’s time to venture out to the second largest barrier reef in the world, The Blue Hole. Head out on your dive boat with the best divers in Ambergris Caye, Amigos Del Mar.

9:00 am: You’ve arrived at the Great Blue Hole! Hop into this sink hole and dive down to the depths of 145’ where you can swim through stalagmites and stalactites in this natural wonder.

11:00 am: Head over to Half Moon Key where you can snorkel or dive in the national park. After your dive, take a walk on the island where you can find wild hermit crabs and red-footed boobie birds.

1:00 pm: Dine on the white sand beaches of Half Moon key under the shade of a palm tree. Make sure to purchase fresh coconut oil made from coconuts on this remote island.

3:00 pm: Enjoy your last dive at the aquarium, a famous dive site that lives up to its name with the dozens of bright fish that call the aquarium home.

6:00 pm: After you’ve freshened up from your all-day dive, head over to Havana Cigar Shop & Lounge. This is the absolute best place to find authentic Cuban cigars. The owner, Carlos Utrera, is a cigar aficionado will help you pick from his ever-changing selection of the finest hand-made cigars in Cuba. Take a seat in the smoking lounge and sip on Cuban rum while you enjoy a relaxing cigar.

SUNDAY

7:30 am: Time for a delicious wake-up meal at Neri’s Taco’s, an absolute must for taco lovers. Make sure to order the fry jacks! They are absolutely gigantic and worth every bite!

9:00 am: Get picked up on your dock for a morning of snorkeling with Lil’ Alfonse, the best snorkelers in all of Ambergris Caye.

10:00 am: Arrive at Hol Chan Marine Reserve, a reef perfect to spot dozens of fish, octopus, turtles, sharks, and other exciting sea creatures. Alphonse, the owner, snorkels with you and expertly points out every creature under the sea. Under his adept tutelage, you get to learn while snorkeling instead of just guessing what those fish were.

11:00 am: Head over to Shark Alley where you can safely swim with hundreds of stingrays and nurse sharks. These friendly creatures allow you to hold them, pet them, and take pictures with them. An absolute must!

12:30 pm: Take your golf cart over to Melt Cafe, where they have perfected the art of the melt sandwich. Try the lobster melt…it’s super fresh and super tasty!
