Between jet lag, airport food, and the lack of access to gyms, it can be difficult to stay fit while traveling. As a full-time traveler, I’m here to tell you that while your fitness and wellness regimens will be tested while you travel, it is indeed possible to stay fit on the road with the help of the best workout apps for travel!

No matter how busy my schedule is, I always make time for my health while traveling – even if it’s just a 10-minute workout or an extra lap around the airport. One of the simple and FREE ways I stay fit while traveling is by using travel apps on my phone. Here is the ultimate list of the best workout apps for travel so that you can stay fit and healthy no matter where you are in the world.

Push Press Timer: If you like to workout while you’re traveling, then you should definitely have the “Timer” app. This app is equipped with a stopwatch setting, AMRAP setting (as many rounds as possible), and a Tabata setting, making it one of the best workout apps for travel. This app will help give your on-the-go workouts the structure you need while traveling. Since there are coaches voices built into the app, it can also give you the motivation you need to get moving while on the go.

HI2T HIITTimer: The HI2T app is great for CrossFitters and gym rats while traveling. It has organized workouts with genres such as Tabata Timer, Ascending Interval, Descending Interval, Push-Pause Training, Superset Interval, and Gladiator Metabolic. You simply choose which type of workout you want to do and it times it out loud for you. With the various choices of workouts, it’s our choice for one of the best workout apps for travel.

White Noise: Unfamiliar places, noisy neighbors, and a snoring seatmate can make travel less than glamorous. This travel app is essential and swear by the White Noise to help drown out any noises while we’re traveling. We use it on the airplane with noise canceling headphones to go to sleep and we use it through a speaker once we are in our final destination.

Bose Sleep: This app accompanies the Bose sleep headphones, which I swear by. Similar to White Noise, the Bose Sleep app has custom sounds to help soothe you to slumber through its Bluetooth Bose Noise Masking Sleepbuds.

Sleep Cycle: Traveling and crossing time zones can wreak havoc on our sleep cycles. While Sleep Cycle doesn’t help you get to sleep, it can give you information about your sleep patterns.

Headspace: Mental health is a very big part of overall wellness. When we travel, our routines go out the door, stressful travel days can cause anxious feelings, and it can be hard to feel grounded. Headspace is a mindfulness meditation application that can help center you on even the most stressful of days. From short 3-minute “SOS” meditations to longer, 20-minute guided meditations, Headspace is the perfect app for wellness travel.

Time Buddy: Jet lag can wreck even the healthiest of habits. To try to get on the time zone of your destination, incorporate your destination into the Time Buddy app and try to emulate the actions you would take if you were to already be in your new time zone. For example, if I live in Los Angeles and I’m headed to New York City, there will be a three-hour time change. In the days leading up to my flight, I’ll try to get to bed earlier to ease into the time change.
