Santorini is an idyllic island located in the azure Aegean Sea. This laissez-faire location is known as the land of the honeymooner with its bevy of gourmet dining options, flawless weather, crystal clear ocean, and cotton candy sunsets that seemingly last forever. While we have visited Oia Santorini once before on a cruise, this time, we were fortunate enough to stay at the tranquil Santo Maris Oia Luxury Suites & Spa.

The Location

Santo Maris Oia is located on the northwest point of the island in the town of Oia Santorini. This town is known for having the best view of the sunset on the island, but it can be overcrowded. The beauty of Santo Maris is that as guests, we were close enough to town to enjoy it, but we also were granted peace and privacy in our exclusive suite. Every single night, we had a front row view to the best sunset in the world and we never had to battle the crowds of the town.

The hotel is less than a 5 minute walk to town, which is the perfect place to go shopping, have a cocktail, or go for a romantic walk through the picture perfect passages of the town. Most luxury hotels in Oia are located directly in the town, which may look good in a photo online, but they lack privacy. The town of Oia has many winding streets that navigate directly past villas and hotels. We loved that we were able to have our own space with a hot tub, a view of the sunset, and no gawking tourists.

The Suites

Every single suite at Santo Maris Oia has its own private plunge pool. We were lucky enough to stay in a Deluxe Suite Sunset Seaview room, an enormous one-bedroom estate with a kitchenette, sitting area, massive closet, delicious king sized bed, and immense outdoor area. The outdoor space was so large that we had our own hot tub, lounge chairs, and outdoor sitting area to enjoy our morning coffee.

Our suite had it all: the spaciousness of a private villa, the service of a 5-star hotel, and the privacy of a secluded getaway.

The Pools

There are four infinity pools at Santo Maris Oia. Yes, you read that right. FOUR! Two of the infinity pools are located on a hill, close to different sections of suites. The main infinity pool is located towards the ocean, creating a mesmerizing sensory illusion of the pool meeting the Aegean Sea. The final infinity pool is located in the hotel’s Spa and it is a heated indoor pool, available for all guests, regardless of spa treatments. No matter what room you stay in, you’re no more than 10 steps away from a serene swimming pool.

Spa

The Santo Maris Oia Luxury Spa is a serene place to unwind after a day of exploration on the island. Choose from romantic couples treatments, detox with a slimming package, or rejuvenate with a Mediterranean wellness package. Along with all of the treatments, the spa also boasts a fantastic gym facility, which we used every day on our trip to Santorini.

Dining

The dining at Santo Maris Oia is completely 5-star and every dining area has an incredible sea view. Every morning, we woke up and headed down to their ocean front infinity pool to start our day with a full breakfast overlooking the Aegean Sea. At night, we dined at Alios Ilios, the fine dining restaurant at Santo Maris Oia. If you honeymooners don’t want to leave the privacy of your own room, there is 24-hour room service that can cater directly to your suite.
