Captain Kunta and his crew picked us up on the north end of Koh Samui and drove us to his beautiful new beauty of a boat, Geronimo. This 42. Foot monohull gracefully sailed us across the gulf over to the nearby island of Koh Pha Ngan. But as most travel goes, it’s the journey and not the destination that is the most memorable of all.
We met Kunta three years ago when he took us out with his co-captain, Stu, and it was a memory that stayed with us for years to come. As friends joined us in Koh Samui, we thought what better way to show them the beautiful islands in the Gulf of Thailand than with Samui Ocean Charters.
As the six of us left Samui, we were greeted by the Mother Nature, glistening her emerald green waters and shining her warm Thailand sun upon our smiling faces. We were at sea…the best feeling in the world.
Kunta and his crew regaled us with past sailing stories as we sipped on local beer and wine, taking in the tastes and tales of Thailand. With plenty of room for the six of us, we spread out on the deck, some sunning their golden skin on the bow, while others rested under the canopy in the back.
As we neared Koh Pha Ngan, Thai huts and swaying palm trees beckoned us to walk onto this idyllic island. We pulled up to a quaint restaurant on the beach and ordered traditional Thai food, complete with local beers. We enjoyed the serenity of Koh Pha Ngan as the warm ocean breeze caressed our bodies. We spent time enjoying the coconut trees and emerald waters before heading back onto Geronimo.
Our day on Geronimo was an absolute epic day and the by far, the best thing to do in Koh Samui. From the great company to the beautiful vessel, no trip to Samui would be complete without a sail on Samui Ocean Charters.
Samui ocean, it’s so blue and beautiful. I’d really love to sail in this ocean.
